Interview
For Alliance magazine’s Autumn 2026 issue, Hosh sat down with Elaine Stabler to talk about wealth, responsibility and the conditions under which philanthropy earns trust.
He argues for giving rooted in partnership rather than transaction; for wealth to recognise the systems and opportunities that helped make it possible; and for philanthropy to take risks, support experimentation and complement public institutions rather than attempt to replace them.
The Conversation in Four Points
Wealth carries a responsibility. Because wealth rests on the opportunities and work of others, it owes opportunity in return.
Trust is built, not bought. It grows through shared goals and a continuing relationship.
Courage means protecting people. Philanthropy can shield the vulnerable and help a society face down fear.
Be a catalyst, and know the limits. Take risks on new ideas; never stand in for the state.
